Despite the criticisms, the greed, the gluttony, and the rampant expenditure on unwanted or short-lived items, Christmas in the 21st century can still serve a purpose.
Though there are many aspects of a modern Christmas which are unappealing, and at times even damaging, it does not appear to be going anywhere any time soon, and for that reason, rather than fighting the festive mood, it may be best to embrace and subvert it.
What we now see as Christmas, the stress and struggle of buying presents, the financial hardship that inevitably follows a busy December period, the feasting on food and alcohol, it is not how it always was, and thus is not how it always has to be.

From the data I downloaded from Social Progress Imperative, and the data I collected myself, I plotted a graph to measure the relationship between a nations social progress, and the extent to which its populace is religious.
Once plotted, this graph produced a negative correlation, and pointed towards the fact that the higher the percentage of religious followers in a nations populace, the lower the social progress of that nation tended to be.
As I stated in my initial post, this does not show causation, but it does show a clear, albeit weak, correlation.
Following on from that initial discovery, I think it is time we analysed the graph in a little more detail.

There is an obvious problem with the social and political movement known as New Atheism, and that problem is one of hate.
Since New Atheism first reared its head in our post-9/11 world, it has sought to confront and counter religious thought, belief, and practice around the globe. Over time though, followers and leading figures in the movement have shifted away from simply religious criticism and have moved towards outright religious hatred. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the case of Islam. It seems that now Atheists use their non-belief as a shield in the hope that it will deflect accusations, and excuse them from religious hate, anti-Semitism, and Islamophobia.

“Don’t. Don’t. This will hurt someone”. These were the final words ever spoken by Robert Budd Dwyer before he pulled the trigger on his gun and shot himself through the head in front of an audience of people called together at a press conference.
Budd Dwyer was an American politician who served as the treasurer for Pennsylvania from January 1981 until January 1987. During his time in office Dwyer was convicted of receiving a bribe from a Californian company that would give the company a contract worth $4.6 million. The day before Dwyer was to receive his sentence, a possible 55 years in jail and a $300,000 fine, he called a press conference and committed suicide in front of friends and members of the media.
The incident was recorded by the gathered media and the footage of the event has been seen worldwide. I have watched the video a number of times on YouTube, and it is without doubt one of the most controversial and tragic things hosted on the website.

An army of angered anarchists advocating absolutely anything as awful apathetic attitudes allow Armenian annihilation, Israeli Apartheid and attacks against Afghanistan and Australian aborigines. Assassinations are an all too regular activity as anyone seems allowed an active role in armageddon. Another A-list asshole both alcoholic and anonymous allowed an arena aesthetically available for all adults. Against any action aimed at moulding alternatives, a pathetic, apathetic, a-political announcement and advert. Distraction. Atheists and agnostics are widely available and yet always an announcement about god, Allah, arrives at our ears. Almost any action at all arrives at arrest, an abundance of officers assure us all this outcome. An agenda is accepted almost without any argument. Ambition and alternatives are not allowed about here. Aforementioned anarchists anger by the hour, associates and advocates aren’t audible above all the addresses of atrocity. An architect of absurdity. An artist of ambivalent attitude.
The plan is to write a series of these, 26 in total, 1 for each letter of the alphabet.
Hence the name, Anarchism to Zionism. A to Z.
